VILLANUEVA, Misamis Oriental — “Dili ako magdumot kay ma-panget ako.”
This was the bold statement of Misamis Oriental Governor-elect Juliette Uy on Friday, June 20, as she assured that the Provincial Capitol would be open and accessible to all — regardless of political alliance.
Uy made the pronouncement during the mass oath-taking of National Unity Party (NUP) members at the Villanueva Municipal Building.
“Open ang atong kapitolyo sa inyo. Naa ra na sa inyo kung kamoy magdumot kanako. Dili ako magdumot, kay ngano man? Ma-panget ako,” Uy said, emphasizing her desire to lead without grudges.
She said her leadership style aims to create a happy, productive environment built on mutual respect with all constituents.
Uy also committed to leveraging technology and her business background to improve the province’s livelihood opportunities and financial stability — not just within the Capitol but across all local government units.
“With my background in business, we will improve the financial situation of the Capitol,” she said.
A stronger financial standing, Uy said, would enable transparent and inclusive projects — not just for political allies or “sipsip to the Governor.”
“Kay mao na ang nahitabo karon sa atong nahibaw-an — ang pabor-pabor, duol sa dughan sa Gobernador,” she said, promising to dismantle favoritism and implement anti-corruption mechanisms to ensure public funds benefit all Misamisnons.
Meanwhile, 1st District Representative-elect Atty. Karen Lagbas addressed circulating rumors that the Capitol’s finances are in dire shape.
Lagbas shrugged off the concerns, expressing confidence in Uy’s capabilities.
“Wa ba mo kaila ni Juliette Uy?” she said with conviction.
