CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Student-athlete Alexis Angela Philippe P. Laranjo of Notre Dame of Tacurong College captured a gold medal at the 2026 World Archery Asia President’s Challenge Cup and Joint Training Programme held from July 30 to Aug. 2 in Tongi, Gazipur, Bangladesh.
Representing Sultan Kudarat and the Philippine national delegation, Laranjo secured first place in the recurve under-18 mixed team event. Competing under team "Lily" alongside India’s Rudra Kumar, the duo topped a field of international competitors gathered from 17 participating nations.
The Philippine Archery Team delivered a strong overall campaign in Tongi. Teammate General Marc Bangoy earned a silver medal in the recurve men’s individual division. Meanwhile, Lester Ian Datiles of Cagayan de Oro City finished seventh overall in the recurve men's division, and Adrian Barroga placed fourth in the qualifying round of the recurve under-18 men's category under coach Lady Prea Marcelino.
Following the finals, Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Nina P. Cainglet commended Laranjo and the national team at the Archery Training Academy.
"Our Filipino athletes demonstrated outstanding dedication and sportsmanship," Ambassador Cainglet said, reaffirming the embassy's support for Philippine athletes competing abroad.
