ILIGAN City ― In a statement on-air yesterday, former City Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz said he has been infected with Covid-19. He said it started with a fever on Sept. 27.

This went on for a few days, he said but he was not very concerned until his daughter Erika insisted that he should have himself checked physically.

When he was tested for antigen and with RT-PCR, the result was positive, he said.

He then was hospitalized on Sept. 29, he said during the feast of a St Michael.

It was at this time that he lost his sense of smell as his fever continued. He said he stayed in the hospital for ten days. But on the 5th day, he said his father Chito came down with Covid too and was admitted to a room in the hospital adjacent to his. His father was hospitalized for five days, he said. His father was classified as mild while he, moderate.

Cruz said his bill ran up to P600,000, but because of his Philhealth which he said he always paid religiously at P300 per month plus some support also from other sources, he was able to get a net bill of P70,000. His father had a billing of P300,000 he said.

He said he was “always careful” and even carries alcohol with him for his hands. But he said he might have gotten the virus when he was buying some groceries in a department store as he remembered a woman coughing intensely there and he then walked very far from the woman and the others did so too.

The woman he said was wearing a mask like the others, he said.
