BUTUAN City--The director of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) in Caraga yesterday revealed plans to revamp the offices of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in the region.
Mohammad Nasser Abbas, the new DOTC regional director, said the plan is to bring in new faces for reforms, and to ensure the delivery of corruption-free, effective and prompt services.
Abbas said at least one LTFRB official and four others from LTO offices in the region would be replaced.
“The revamp is necessary to ensure effectiveness so that there will be no long lines, and so that people will get the badly needed services,” he said.
Abbas said two officials at the district office in Butuan City would also be replaced, one official in Cabadbaran city in Agusan del Norte, and two other officials in Bislig.
“This is only the start of our purging... although I must admit that it’s personally painful for me to replace them. But no one is indispensable or forever in public service because we owe Filipino taxpayers who want good government service,” he said.
Abbas said the order from President Duterte is to ensure hassle-free transactions in the LTO and LTFRB, and erase doubts of corruption in the delivery of basic services
