THE City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) has called on young leaders to take an active role in addressing illegal drugs and security threats within their communities.
On June 5, Cadac, led by Mayor Rolando Uy, held a Drug Education and National Security Seminar at the City Tourism Hall in observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
City Councilor Roger Abaday, speaking on behalf of Mayor Uy, emphasized that the fight against drugs is a shared responsibility that extends beyond law enforcement and the judiciary.
“Youth leaders are the hope of our city,” Abaday said, urging them to help keep their communities free from drug-related issues.
Councilor Romeo Calizo, Cadac co-chair, also encouraged Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials to lead drug prevention and promote community safety at the barangay level.
A representative from the Philippine Air Force delivered a talk on the dangers of communist recruitment efforts targeting young people.
The seminar was attended by representatives from the Dangerous Drugs Board, Department of Education, City Police, City College, interfaith groups, and the Parole and Probation Administration.
CADAC said its mission is to empower youth as key partners in building a safer, drug-free city and addressing broader security concerns.
