ILIGAN City ― Here are some “Yesterday” songs: “Yesterday, when I was young/ so many happy songs were waiting to be sung” Or, “Yesterday, love was just an easy game to play,” or another one: “Yesterday I heard the rain/ whispering your name, asking where you are/ It fell softly from the clouds/ on a silent crowd as I wandered on…”
I am tempted to “compose” a “Yesterday” song, which I will entitle Yesterday in a ‘miting de avance’ because there was so much drama in one such ‘miting.’
I am talking of the ‘miting’ of the “RVU-15-O” at the city hall grounds where mayor Celso G Regencia made some speech re his candidacy as congressman of this city.
In an emotional outburst during such a meeting, he said that if he wins as congressman for the lone district of this city, he won’t accept such a position if Vice Mayor Jemar Vera Cruz won’t win as city mayor.
Well, Regencia did win but Vera Cruz didn’t! He also added that he’d give this post to the opposition candidate Vicente Belmonte, Jr . I am then reminded of a " trip to Jerusalem" game in which only two gamers remained vying for that single chair that remained, and those were thrilling moments.
In a sudden twist of fate, the male participant offered the chair to the remaining female participant, to the delight of the audience! But this is no “trip to Jerusalem” game. Judging by the mayor’s expression and body language, it was more of a “trip to Busan.” And anyway, there are procedures to be followed.
As I’ve known it’s not the losing candidate who assumes the position. It’s the nearest representative, maybe from Lanao Norte.
And suddenly through all these, I heard that a candidate for councilor said that if he doesn’t win, he’ll have his genitals cut off. He did win though so there was no need for such!
But excuse me for I still have to find out who he is. My curiosity is getting the better of me.
