FORMER Misamis Oriental Governor Peter M. Unabia has expressed his interest in continuing the nearly P50 million zipline project in Talisayan.
In a text message, Unabia said: “Unsa man problema ana? Ako tiwas, ako operate. Sukol ko!”
The project became a subject of public discussion after this newspaper first reported on its suspension.
Jejors Construction Corporation has since explained that the provincial engineer ordered the suspension due to an alleged technical problem.
According to the construction firm, they submitted their first billing on March 31 but have yet to receive payment for the P49.9 million project.
When asked about the contractor’s statement, Unabia confirmed that “the contractor has not been paid yet.”
“The current administration should pay for that, because it was properly bidded,” he added.
While Unabia has shown interest in completing the project, Jejors Construction Corporation has promised to resume work soon.
When completed, the two-kilometer zipline from Sipaka Heights to the Town Plaza will be the longest in Asia.
