SENATE Majority Leader Francis ‘Tol’ Tolentino emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in effective local governance during the 140th founding anniversary of Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.

Speaking at the event over the weekend, Tolentino commended the town for its achievements, including multiple awards for good governance.

He noted that if all local government units (LGUs) follow the example of Sta. Cruz, the Philippines would see significant progress.

“I believe in the power of LGUs. If all strive to achieve the seal of good governance like Sta. Cruz, the country would be a much better place,” said Tolentino, a former mayor of Tagaytay.

The senator praised various sectors, including barangay health workers and teachers, for their role in delivering essential public services. He also marked World Teachers’ Day with a tribute to educators.

Tolentino later led the distribution of financial assistance to vulnerable residents under the Department of Social Work and Development’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The week-long celebration of Sta. Cruz’s founding anniversary highlighted its rich history, making it one of the oldest towns in Mindanao.
