THREE members of a family were killed in a fire that broke out in Mega Heights Subdivision late Sunday night, October 20.

The victims were identified as Arsenio Tuara, 66; his wife, Annirose Tuara, 40; and their 13-year-old daughter. They were trapped inside their home as flames engulfed the structure around 11 pm.

Fire Senior Inspector Louis Roy Solamo, station commander of the Lapasan Fire Station, told Magnum Radyo that investigators are still determining the cause of the blaze and why the victims were unable to escape.

Solamo said the family had been living without electricity for more than a decade and relied on solar panels for power.

“Sa karon under investigation pa ta. Base sa among interview sa mga silingan, 15 years na sila walay kuryente, ga-rely sila sa solar,” he said.

Authorities estimated the damage to property at P960,000. The fire was declared out at 12:13 am Monday.
