ILIGAN City ― Looking at former senator Juan Ponce Enrile saying his piece about the country’s constitution, one could see that the guy hasn’t lost his marbles. All 98 of them.

He articulated that it would be good for the country to go back “to the 1935 constitution.” That is good for us, he said in so many words. And his hands “helped” in stressing such a point. It was only the president’s prerogative to declare Martial Law and Congress should “not” be included in such a decision.

That was in the 1935 Constitution and that was how I understood him.

Whaaat? I thought. Again? Like the senior of a president before him? Because such age was a “golden age”? The golden age for whom?

Yet, his hands also attracted my attention to what he was saying. His hands. His left and right hands moved up and down as he emphasized some points. Well, those were important points of the chief legal counsel of PBBM!

He is viewed as the “Architect of ML” of then FM, Sr.

But I couldn’t help comparing his hands with the then President of Donald Trump of America. The latter’s hands, unlike Enrile’s, moved from sidewise and into the center mostly. Trump too talked of ML.

If only to remain in power after the 2020 elections. In which Biden won.

So, one could see that the ML talk of Trump was just a haphazard way of holding on to power. This was unlike FM, Sr which was carefully studied. With the help of “the Architect” in Enrile of course. And some other “bright boys.”
Like the “Rolex 12 boys” and the “Omega five boys”' per the narrative of my “neighbor” Perry Diaz.

And blaming it on the “destabilization” of “the NPA gang?” Although they, FM Sr. boys, themselves did all this bombing and destabilization? And Enrile himself, admitted not long after the Marcoses were driven out of this country that his “ambush” was faked.

Some of the Marcos cronies are now dead. Like Fabian Ver. And he himself.

But Enrile himself is still there. To help in wreaking havoc? Again? So that the dayunyor will still stay in power? Like the father before him?

A post on FB though said. “Why get back to the 1935 Constitution? Better to go back to the time of Moses!”

And one comment there also said that one of the commandments during Moses' time was “thou shalt not steal!” An innuendo, of course.

Yet one can’t dismiss this “possibility” of PBBM doing an FM Sr. With the help of something like “the Enrile factor.”

But like most of the other Marcoses, Enrile is “just a survivor,” I said to my geek friend, Mike when we talked of the matter as we sat in the city public plaza watching some shows there during these fiesta days.

“No,” was his fast disagreement with what I said. “He’s not ‘just a survivor.’ He’s immortal!”

“Ha?” Those were the only two-letter word I could say…
