I have this fetish for Captain Wipe. It started even before the pandemic but has deepened during its course.
Have you met Captain Wipe? You probably have this image of him with a cape, soaring through the skies. Press delete. Not him.
I'm referring to those wipes you use day in and day out. Perhaps I’m exaggerating, to which Shanna would readily agree, given my penchant for dramatic gestures. I hope exaggeration also applies to work-related targets.
This topic was suggested by my brother one evening after dinner. Observing my ceaseless movements—darting from one spot to another, wiping any imperfection that didn't meet my eagle eye for spotlessness. Call me crazy or obsessive-compulsive, but that's just how I've been wired since day one. Ironically, my childhood self reveled in street play, unmindful of the dirt and grime.
Let's go back to Captain Wipe. There are different kinds of wipes, and I would say I have tried them all. Perhaps, at one point in my life, I even have one of each at one time. The pandemic aggravated my being OC.
Baby Wipes. As the name implies, these are for babies. Yet, guilty one here, and you are, too. We like it because it's good for sensitive skin. But for those skin roughened by life, disinfecting wipes won't harm you. Just kidding. Stick to antibacterial wipes.
Antibacterial Wipes. These little heroes come in handy during picnics and parties. Beware—not suitable for wiping down leather bags or shoes due to their alcohol content. These are also good for wiping your hands. I won’t recommend it, though, for those with sensitive skin.
Disinfecting Wipes. These are your kitchen counters, tables, and walls’ partners in crime. Avoid using it inside your car as it might affect your air-conditioning and emit an unpleasant smell.
Make-up Remover or Facial Wipes. Need I elaborate? Use as a prelude to washing your face with cleanser and water. Sounds too much, huh? It’s women’s secret weapon.
Flushable Wipes. Environmentalists rejoice in this. Yes, it does exist. I happen to own one. It’s biodegradable.
Body Cleansing Wipes. These are useful after a session at the gym, after a day at sea, or if you want a splash of freshness. They’re your summer companion during humid days.
That's just the wipes I’ve seen and used. I'm sure there’s more. Each type of wipe has a tale to tell, but no matter how you use it, Captain Wipe always saves the day.
