IN Cagayan de Oro City, a group of adventurous explorers called "Team Laag" has uncovered the hidden beauty of the city's river and the protected forests of Sitio Langag in Barangay Dansolihon.

Despite their busy lives surrounded by technology and a city, members Eva Buhay Destura, Dennis  Balverde Mativo, Nathan Perez, husband and wife Teto and Rubielyn Dorango, and Ton Bogabong often forget how nature can positively affect their well-being.

"Exploring nature is very important for several reasons, it helps us appreciate and reconnect with the natural world," said Eva, who initiated the journey.

This journey was filled with excitement and friendship as they rediscovered a charming place called "Tambayan sa Suba."

"Exploring nature allows us to have exciting adventures and discover new things," she said. 

Team Laag found hidden places like the Sitio Langag River and forests, and it made them curious to explore more. 

These adventures create strong bonds and friendships among the explorers as they face challenges together. 

This strengthens their appreciation for nature and the need to protect it, according to her.

Tambayan sa Suba is a peaceful haven created by landowner Shalimar Amora.

During the pandemic, she found solace in the natural beauty of the area and decided to preserve it with minimal changes. 

Now, visitors can enjoy a cozy cottage, a welcoming house, a bathroom, and plenty of parking space. 

They can also cook and camp amidst the picturesque scenery.

Stacey, Shalimar's daughter, expressed her excitement as Tambayan sa Suba reopens for family gatherings and peaceful outings in nature. 

She invites everyone to experience the refreshing air and soothing breeze of the location.

The local community has warmly embraced Tambayan sa Suba.

One visitor described it in their social media accounts as a perfect blend of natural beauty and a welcoming atmosphere. 

It has even hosted a Boy Scout event, showcasing its growing popularity.

Team Laag's journey to Tambayan sa Suba highlights the healing power of nature. 

They believe that as the world recovers from the global health crisis, the untouched landscapes of Cagayan de Oro and Mindanao offer hope, demonstrating nature's resilience and the joy of simple pleasures in life.
