AFTER a week-long deferment, Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) President Marlo Tabac officially assumed his seat as an ex-officio member of the 21st City Council on Monday, July 14.

Tabac was present at his designated table during yesterday’s regular session.

There was no discussion or argument regarding his membership.

During the session, the council discussed an amendment to the wording of a “motion to disqualification” to “deferment,” a move made by Councilor Lim in last week’s session to postpone Tabac’s council membership.

Following the session, reporters attempted to interview Tabac, but he politely declined.

Majority Floor Leader Edgar Cabanlas stated that the council had no objection to Tabac’s membership.

“When he was mentioned during the roll-call as ex-officio member, nobody have objected,” Cabanlas said, indicating the council’s recognition of Tabac’s membership.

Cabanlas, a lawyer, affirmed his adherence to the decision of the Liga National, stating they did not question its confirmation of Tabac as ABC President of the Cagayan de Oro Chapter.

“No need for us to act, automatic ang pagka member niya,” Cabanlas added, referring to the law of succession.
