REGRETTING what he did, the ill-tempered Jesus Delit Barcelo surrendered to the police weeks after he stabbed to death his fellow habal-habal driver Rolando Camansi outside the Xavier University main campus in Cagayan de Oro City.

P/Maj Julius Saluta, head of Cogon Police Precinct, said that Barcelo was repentant as he told his wife to arrange his surrender.

“There was no resistance as we picked him up at their house in Upper Balulang,” Saluta told the local press.

A heated altercation that led to a fistfight triggered Barcelo’s brutal killing of the Camaman-an resident Camansi on the night of August 31 along Hayes Street in Barangay 40.

The violent scene captured on video by a motorist that had gone viral has prompted XU to suspend its face-to-face classes from September 1 to September 9.

Gabasol gyod siya sa iyang nabuhat. Mao nga atong advise nga sa dili pa maghimo og lakang hunahunaon gyod pag-yo ug dili lang magpadala sa gibati,” Saluta said.

A netizen also shared his piece of advice.

Barcelo and the victim Camansi quarreled over a passenger that started a brawl and ended in a knife attack.

The City hall quickly downplayed the killing and other recent crimes committed in the city as “isolated cases.”
