COVID-19‌ ‌caught‌ ‌us‌ ‌all‌ ‌in‌ ‌a‌ ‌surprise.‌ ‌It‌ ‌affected‌ ‌everyone‌ ‌regardless‌ ‌of‌ ‌nationality,‌ ‌race,‌ ‌social‌ standing,‌ ‌political‌ ‌color‌ ‌, and‌ ‌belief.‌ ‌One‌ ‌year‌ ‌into‌ ‌this‌ ‌pandemic‌ ‌we‌ ‌still‌ ‌continue‌ ‌to‌ ‌suffer‌ ‌the‌ ‌scourge‌ of‌ ‌the‌ ‌virus‌ ‌and‌ ‌its‌ ‌threat.‌ ‌As‌ ‌of‌ ‌this‌ ‌writing,‌ ‌we‌ ‌now‌ ‌have‌ ‌a‌ ‌total‌ ‌of‌ ‌14,499‌ ‌confirmed‌ ‌cases‌ ‌and‌ ‌464‌ deaths‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌region.‌ ‌We‌ ‌have‌ ‌lost‌ ‌loved‌ ‌ones,‌ ‌colleagues‌ ‌, and‌ ‌fellow‌ ‌Kagay-anons.‌ ‌Indeed,‌ ‌this‌ dreaded‌ ‌virus‌ ‌has‌ ‌brought‌ ‌us‌ ‌all‌ ‌on‌ ‌our‌ ‌knees.‌ ‌ On‌ ‌June‌ ‌27‌, ‌2020,‌ ‌I‌ ‌was‌ ‌invited‌ ‌to‌ ‌a‌ ‌Radio‌ ‌Program‌ ‌in‌ ‌Magnum‌ ‌Radio‌ ‌to‌ ‌talk‌ ‌about‌ ‌the‌ ‌on-going‌ Covid-19‌ ‌pandemic‌ ‌in‌ ‌my‌ ‌capacity‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌Private‌ ‌Practicing‌ ‌Physician.‌ ‌ I‌ ‌agreed‌ ‌to‌ ‌speak‌ ‌at‌ ‌that‌ ‌radio‌ ‌program‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌purpose‌ ‌of‌ ‌raising‌ ‌public‌ ‌awareness‌ ‌and‌ ‌vigilance‌ ‌on‌ ‌the‌ threat‌ ‌brought‌ ‌about‌ ‌by‌ ‌the‌ ‌virus.‌ ‌At‌ ‌that‌ ‌time,‌ ‌I‌ ‌have‌ ‌also‌ ‌been‌ ‌vocal‌ ‌regarding‌ ‌the‌ ‌lack‌ ‌of‌ ‌testing‌ ‌for patients‌ ‌who‌ ‌died‌ ‌in‌ ‌private‌ ‌hospitals‌ ‌through‌ ‌social‌ ‌media.‌ ‌ The‌ ‌words‌ ‌and‌ ‌opinions ‌that‌ ‌I‌ ‌uttered‌ ‌during‌ ‌the‌ ‌program‌ ‌and‌ ‌on ‌social‌ ‌media‌ ‌were‌ ‌only‌ ‌based‌ ‌on‌ facts‌ ‌and‌ ‌my‌ ‌personal‌ ‌experience‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌medical‌ ‌doctor‌ ‌attending‌ ‌to‌ Covid ‌patients‌ ‌and‌ ‌I‌ ‌have‌ ‌no‌ intention‌ ‌to‌ ‌malign‌ ‌or‌ ‌cause‌ ‌damage‌ ‌to‌ ‌any‌ ‌individual.‌ ‌ Regardless‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌noble‌ ‌intentions‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌front‌ ‌liner,‌ ‌if‌ ‌any‌ ‌person‌ ‌or‌ ‌institution‌ ‌was‌ ‌hurt‌ ‌or‌ ‌offended‌ ‌by‌ my‌ ‌views,‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌offering‌ ‌my‌ ‌sincere‌ ‌apologies.‌ ‌In‌ ‌the‌ ‌spirit‌ ‌of‌ ‌unity‌ ‌and‌ ‌hope‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌brighter‌ ‌CDO‌, ‌I‌ humbly‌ ‌ask‌ ‌for‌ ‌your‌ ‌utmost‌ ‌consideration.‌ ‌ ‌ The‌ ‌fight‌ ‌against‌ ‌this‌ ‌unseen‌ ‌enemy‌ ‌is‌ ‌far‌ ‌from‌ ‌over.‌ ‌Let‌ ‌us‌ ‌all‌ ‌stay‌ ‌vigilant‌ ‌and‌ ‌follow‌ ‌protocols‌ ‌set‌ ‌by the‌ ‌City‌ ‌Government‌ ‌of‌ ‌Cagayan‌ ‌de‌ ‌Oro‌ ‌and‌ ‌other‌ ‌government‌ ‌agencies‌ ‌to‌ ‌stop‌ ‌the‌ ‌spread‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌virus.‌ With‌ ‌all‌ ‌Kagay-anons‌ ‌united,‌ ‌we‌ ‌can‌ ‌overcome‌ ‌this‌ ‌pandemic.‌ ‌ ‌ Stay‌ ‌safe‌ ‌everyone‌ ‌and‌ ‌may‌ ‌God,‌ ‌the‌ ‌ultimate‌ ‌healer‌ ‌, and‌ ‌protector,‌ ‌be‌ ‌with‌ ‌us‌ ‌always.‌ ‌ ‌ Sincerely‌ ‌yours,‌ ‌ Franco‌ ‌E.‌ ‌Gudito,‌ ‌M.D.‌
