By LITO RULONA Correspondent A NUMBER of evacuees from strife-torn Marawi staying in evacuation centers in Iligan City and Lanao del Norte have started showing signs of trauma and mental disorder while some have already gone mad, health officials said over the weekend. Health officials said they were closely observing some evacuees who started to behave differently. Dr. Alinader Minalang,  Lanao del Sur provincial health officer, he himself noticed the danger signs of traumatic mental disorder among some of the 25 thousand people who sought refuge in  the evacuation centers of Iligan and Lanao del Norte. Minalang said the signs became more pronounced over a month after the Marawi siege. “Nagpakita na talaga na hindi na normal ang kanilang pag-iisip,” he said. “Marami ang nagpakita ng kanilang mental state dahil sa trauma na kanilang dinadaanan.” He said they health workers applied immediate mental and psychological interventions. Minalang said initial findings showed many were mentally disturbed. He said others were suffering from severe depression, anxiety while some have grown really mad. He said that unless treated, “this will worsen as they stay in the evacuation centers.”
