ILIGAN City ― Congressman Frederick Siao of the lone district of this city confirmed earlier this week to media that he is running for the position of city mayor come 2022 elections, adding that he is set on it, “even if I still one term for me to run as representative.”
He is already set on it, “win or lose,” he added. He will file his Certificate of Candidacy within October 1 to 8, he said.
He claims he is familiar with the duties of an executive, he said as he has had experience on that aspect, even pointing that he had been a city councilor then.
He added he was appointed then as sports director and “there were no issues then” regarding that aspect obviously taking a dig at the city’s sports performance today where the city’s basketball team fared badly in the Visayas-Mindanao SuperCup in May which saw the team back out in the face of a series of defeats from other Mindanao teams.
There are great challenges in this area especially during these times, Siao said but with the help of the people here, he hopes to be equal to the task, he added.
At present, he said he has filed a bill to have a district hospital in this city with funding to come from the national government. And this is on the committee level yet on the lower house.
It was learned too that he had helped fund the Northern Mindanao Medical Center with P5 million even as he is also studying the matter of allocating funds for the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City as there are people from Iligan who go there to seek medical treatment. As of this time though, he could not say as to the amount the APMC will have.
