I have noticed that most of the fast food outlets that I have been to seem to either not know the way the senior citizen discount is computed, or are simply playing dumb. When I dine in a fastfood outlet, it's usually with my son, Jose, so the discount is applicable either on half of the total bill if who eats which orders cannot be determined, or or the discount is deducted from the foods for the senior citizen.
Sadly, neither is the case in many instances. Per experience, most fastfood outlets select the cheapest item from which the senior citizen discount and VAT are deducted. Or they deduct the discount from any of the items probably the cashier feels is for the senior citizen. Without even asking!
I have called the attention of supervisors or managers of several fastfood outlets. The response has always been, "salamat sa feedback" and yet the same problem persisted.
In one outlet one early morning where I ordered three hashbrowns for my breakfast on my way to a municpality in Bukidnon one early morning, the attending crew member deducted the discounts from only one hashbrown. I told him that while the amount was minimal, he should learn to punch the right discount.
Why the apparent regular erroneous computation of the discounts is prevalent speaks of how some people take for granted our own laws. Earlier, I wrote about how road users consciously disregard traffic rules.
The country seems to be in a mess because many probably do not take laws seriously.
