CAGAYAN de Oro City 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez was formally recognized yesterday during “Pagpupugay para sa mga Kinatawan ng Ika-19 na Kongreso,” a tribute organized by the House of Representatives Secretariat under Secretary General Reginald Velasco.

The event celebrated the dedication and contributions of members of the 19th Congress to the legislative process.

Rodriguez received a Certificate of Recognition for his significant role in advancing the House’s legislative agenda. He was also awarded the prestigious Medal of Distinction for his leadership as chairman of the Committee on Constitutional Amendments.

The Medal of Distinction features symbols representing a legislator’s service — including the sun, sunrays, stars, national colors, and a laurel wreath — each symbolizing different aspects of congressional duty.

During his tenure as committee chair, Rodriguez led the approval of Resolution of Both Houses No. 6, which called for a constitutional convention to propose amendments to the 1987 Constitution.

It was the first time such a resolution had passed on third reading in the House since 1987. Rodriguez also authored House Bill No. 7352, which implements RBH No. 6.

Rodriguez’s recognition was part of the House Secretariat’s program honoring both outgoing and returning legislators for their service.
