CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City — Retired Army's 4th Infantry Division (4ID) commander Major General Michele Anayron turned emotional at his change of command and retirement ceremony on Wednesday, April 29, as he paid tribute to his wife, whom he called his “unsung hero” throughout his 38 years in service.
In his farewell message, Anayron highlighted the often unseen sacrifices of military families—especially spouses—saying their steady support helps sustain soldiers in the field.
“While I was deployed in distant places fulfilling my duties, she was raising our children to be responsible, disciplined, and grounded individuals,” he said, referring to his wife, Lorelaine.

He credited her as his adviser and source of strength, sharing how she helped raise their three children—now a physician, a lawyer, and an engineering student—despite the demands of military life. “She was both mother and father,” he added.
Anayron also recalled moments when he considered early retirement, but said his wife encouraged him to continue serving, shaping him into the leader he became.
As he stepped down, the retiring general underscored his guiding principle: ensuring the safety of both troops and civilians.
“Behind every soldier is a family making sacrifices in silence,” he said.
Brigadier General Siegfred Tubalado has assumed leadership as acting 4ID commander, expressing readiness to continue the division’s mission.
