THE long wait for electricity is over for residents of Sitio Macopa in Magsaysay town, Misamis Oriental, after the Misamis Oriental Rural Electric Service Cooperative II (Moresco II) officially switched on power in the village on September 2.
Barangay Chairman Rolando Pagara confirmed in a phone interview that 15 households in the remote sitio were immediately connected to the grid as part of the National Electrification Administration’s (NEA) Sitio Electrification Program.
“I’m very happy for the residents,” Pagara said, noting that the program is a significant step in improving the lives of those in his community.
Moresco II shared a statement on social media, highlighting that Mayor Charlie Buhisan congratulated the residents, calling it a fulfillment of their dreams.
Buhisan also expressed strong support for Moresco II’s ongoing electrification projects, which aim to develop rural areas like Magsaysay.
Pagara added that Sitio Macopa’s energization is part of a broader program, with 32 sitios set to receive electricity under NEA’s 2023 Rural Electrification initiative.
