By BEN SERRANO Correspondenta BUTUAN City--Suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels seized a soldier from the Army’s 30th Infantry Battalion  in Barangay Budlingin, Alegria, Surigao del Norte on Sunday. Alegria town deputy police chief SPO4 Arlan Getablar identified the victim as Pfc. Erwin Salan. Salan was earlier with a team that was  conducting community service when he was taken by the armed group. Salan reportedly stayed behind to join a youth group while his fellow soldiers returned to the town center. Authorities said Salan was believed to have been seized by a NPA group led by one “Ka Ricky” at around 3 pm.
