ILIGAN CITY ― As its way of giving back to the community this Christmas, the Iligan Light and Power, Inc. (ILPI) started its distribution of school supplies and snacks to 2,362 students of 10 schools in the hinterlands of the city.
ILPI President Ralph Casino said their company came up with ways on how to help the community despite the coronavirus disease pandemic that made the education process more complicated.
“The education process is more complicated and we find ways on how we can help. We are more really obligated to do everything we can to support the development of youth,” said Casino.
Milton Vicente Along, ILPI Vice President for Finance and Administration, also said the distribution of gift packs to children is one way of practicing corporate social responsibility.
Citing the significance of the youth, Along said, “We are focusing on elementary students because they are our future. We power the future now and the best we can prepare the children for the future is through education."
Meanwhile, ILPI head of Public Relations Casa Belandres hoped that the gift-giving “will be able to touch lives and bring smiles to the children.”
She also emphasized that despite the pandemic, their company strives hard to utilize their means to help the children.
Roberto L. Dechos of the Department of Education Iligan also extended its gratitude for the assistance provided by ILPI.
“This is a very good action, evident and timely. DepEd would like to express heartfelt thanks and gratitude,” he said.
To recall, ILPI has distributed 2,463 pairs of slippers to pupils of seven public elementary schools, provided 108 scholarships, and signed an internet connectivity agreement with DepEd to connect 15 elementary schools for online teaching. (PIA-10)
