BUTUAN City--The Commission on Elections, Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and media are planning a public debate among local candidates here and Agusan del Norte this month.
City elections officer Ernie Palanan said the planned debate would be for candidates for city mayor and congressmen in the 1st District of Agusan del Norte that covers the city, and Las Nieves town in Agusan del Norte.
If plans push through, Palanan said the number of political supporters in the audience would be limited due to concerns on crowd control.
He said media companies in the city have pledged live coverage of the planned debate.
Agusan del Norte elections officer Samuel Rollo said a separate public debate is also being planned in the province for candidates for governor and for the congressional seat.
