AN entire police station in Iligan City was temporarily closed yesterday after it was found one of its police officers was infected with the Covid-19.

Lt. Col. Mardy Hortillosa, Camp Alagar spokesman, said they also directed all 40 police officers under the station to undergo a 14-day quarantine in an isolation facility run by the Iligan local government.

Hortillosa said this came after a police officer that was infected with the infectious virus reported for work.

“We are assuming that the police officer has had close contacts with the rest of the police officers in the station,” Hortillosa said.

He said policemen from nearby police stations would be deployed to replace the quarantined policemen soon after it the police station can be disinfected.

Hortillosa said the police officer who was infected with the virus is one of the two policemen found positive of the coronavirus in Iligan City.
He said a total of eight police officers have been infected of Covid-19 in Region 10.

The National Inter-Agency Task Force placed Iligan City under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine starting Sept. 1 until Sept. 30 due to rising Covid-19 cases.
