MORE than half a million worth of illegal drugs have been confiscated from the possession of a habal-habal driver and a carpenter during separate buy and bust operations here in the city.
Languishing now in jail are the two suspects identified as Joseph Galiza, 45, married, a habal-habal driver and a resident of Purok 3-A, Barangay Gusa, this city and Mauricio Pacudan, 45, married, a carpenter and a resident of Zone 3, Muhon, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental.
Personnel from the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit arrested Galiza first, who was considered by authorities as a high-value target, last Friday at 10:30 pm while at Fil-Estate, Gusa, this city.
Prior to the arrest, the operatives were able to seize the illegal drugs worth P1,000 from the suspect.
A search conducted after the arrest yielded four pieces of different sizes of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with a Standard Drug Price of P510,000.
The following day, another buy-bust operation was conducted at Zone 8, Sitio Taparak, Barangay Bugo, also of this city at 7 pm. arresting Pacudan.
Recovered from the possession of the suspect were two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with a Standard Drug Price of 170,000.
Tue two suspects will be facing a case in violation of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Law.
Regional Police Director Benjamin Acorda, Jr., lauded the operations.
“Let us continue the fight against illegal drugs, let us not stop looking for these people who do nothing but destroy the future of our nation,” he said.
“Let them know that the long arm of the law will always be after them kahit ano pa man ang estado nila sa buhay,” Acorda added.
