REGIONAL Police Office-10 operatives confiscated three high caliber firearms and ammunition during a separate simultaneous raid in different municipalities of Misamis Occidental yesterday.

Conducted by the Regional Special Operation Unit (RSOU), the suspects were identified as Jowie Conturno, Rene Simona, and Romeo Suganob, all of the said province.

Taken from Conturno was a .45 caliber shooter Brand; three magazines of caliber .45 (single stock); 23 live ammunition of the same caliber; a .45 caliber empty shell; and an improvised airgun.

While Simona yielded a .45 caliber pistol, a Llama Brand MAX-11 bearing serial number 07-04-06996-98 with 3 steel .45 caliber magazines; and 32 pcs. .45 caliber live ammunition.

Meanwhile, found in the possession of Suganob were 23 live bullets of .45 caliber, and 24 pcs .9mm caliber live ammunition.

The search warrants were issued by Judge Arthur Abundiente, and Judge Gil Bollozos of the Regional Trial Court (RTC), Misamis Oriental in violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms Ammunition Regulation Act.

Regional Police Director Benjamin Acorda Jr., commended the relentless efforts of the operating units of the Police Regional Office which contributed to the decline of crimes in the region.

“There will be no let-up in our operations against illegal drugs and loose firearms and other law enforcement operations in order to maintain the peace and order of the Region. Atin pong ipagpatuloy at ating pagtibayin pang husto ang tiwala ng komunidad. Let us continue (to) perform our mandate without fear or favor,” Acorda said.

All the suspects are temporarily put under the custody of RSOU. A case for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or otherwise known Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act will be filed against them.
