ILIGAN City ― We can't do away with the police. So much so that some jokes are about them. Like, "I am going to the center of town to see the police."
Or, it is said that the "karma" of the police is immediate. At the same time, the karma from God takes a long time. For, if you are hit by the police by his baton or especially by his gun, bang, the karma is immediately felt! Meaning, you do not trifle with the police, or else! Or that, they keep the peace. So they only come to protect us only when everything is peaceful already.
Well, we need them in our lives. Because, how can we get on with our respective lives if not for these police officers? These men and women who are in uniform are such special people that they are not deducted some amount from their pensions when they retire, and that includes the military personnel. Their pensions are taken from the nation's budget. Imagine that, some say by way of a joke.
So, one time when Benjamin Diokno who was then connected with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas pointed out, that with this setup, the country might go "bankrupt" the Presidents of this country just ignored the matter. Making one opinion writer comment that "there's an elephant in the room." What does the term "elephant in the room" mean? A problem, a serious one but nobody cares to talk about it because well, for obvious reasons. Who cares if there is a bankruptcy if that is still to come?
Like I said, they keep the peace. How else can this city maintain peace during the month-long fiesta celeb of this city if not for them? And how else could we see the blow-by-blow account of finding Quiboloy if not for them? We are told that there were two thousand or maybe three thousand of them who went to the trouble of finding the man who calls himself the appointed son of God. And with his powerful command of "Stop!" he can stop something or someone in his tracks, though some say it in a joking manner.
Because of these men and women in uniform though, Quiboloy or PACQ came out from hiding. So, kudos to these MUP or men in uniform. For, among other things, they have to "obey first, before you complain."
Those are just some instances in which we have to be thankful to them by saying, "Ay, Salamat." They were instrumental too, it is reported, in wiping out, I mean lessening the "drug problem" under the FPRRD or DU30 watch. Really? Some would ask, cynically.
Especially one Police Lt. Col. Jovie Espenido revealed that they, police officers were given a quota to "neutralize" drug personalities meaning "kill" and in each incident, be given P20 K . So, whether the reported person is truly involved in drugs, doesn't matter. What matters, is the P20K. To hell with the validation of the reports. So, a former head named "Bato" had to deny that one to the max.
Yet, Espenido went further by saying that "the PNP is the biggest crime group in Ph. To the dismay of many of the men in uniform.
I sort of believe in that statement. Partly. Making me remember that story about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story. Of someone who is both good.
At the same time, very bad!
