BUTUAN City--Police are facing a blank wall in the investigation into the killing of an executive of the Bislig city hall in Surigao del Sur late last week. The victim, 61-year old Bislig city information officer Jose “Joe” Climaco, was shot and killed by two gunmen on a motorcycle at Cacayan Village, Panaghiusa District, Barangay Mangagoy, Bislig on Thursday afternoon. Bislig police director Supt. Rainier Diaz said investigators have yet to identify any suspect and determine a possible motive for the killing. Police said Climaco was in a government-owned Toyota Innova when the gunmen came, blocked the vehicle and attacked the information officer with an Uzi sub-machine gun. Climaco’s group had just dropped city tourism operations officer Theresa Cahilog and tourism staff member Reggie Manliguez near their homes when the attack was staged. At least six bullets hit Climaco, and he was declared dead on arrival at a hospital in Barangay Cumawas, Mangagoy, Bislig. (ben serrano)
