PLAN International Philippines, an international humanitarian organization protecting the rights of children, girls, and young women, is postponing the first Plan International Philippines Media Awards until further notice. This postponement is in light of recent events brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the organization will continue to receive entries for its three (3) categories (Best Film, Best Radio Feature/Podcast, Best Online/Print Feature Story) and is planning to release a new calendar of activities in the coming weeks. The organization opened the nominations on Jan. 28. The awarding ceremonies were previously scheduled in October 2020.

“As we navigate the uncertainties brought by Covid-19, we would like to reassure the public that we remain steadfast in advocating children, girls, and young women’s rights. We hope that Plan International Philippines will be an avenue for the media to be our allies in this advocacy,” said Dennis O’Brien, Plan International Philippines Country Director.

In the meantime, Plan International Philippines has focused its efforts toward the Covid-19 response. Working with the government, private sector, civil society organizations, communities, and young people, Plan is providing humanitarian assistance to affected families and the most vulnerable sectors, including children and girls, and people living in existing emergencies.
