MISAMIS Oriental Governor Jeremy Jonahmar Pelaez praised the previous administration of former Governor Peter Unabia on Monday, August 18, after a report showed a decrease in the province’s poverty rate.

According to a Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA-10) report, Misamis Oriental’s poverty incidence dropped from 25.1% in 2021 to 22.8% in 2023, a decrease of 2.3%.

In 2021, the province had the second-highest poverty rate in the region, behind Lanao del Norte, which was at 42.9%.

Pelaez said the data proves the effectiveness of Unabia’s Single Digit Poverty Incidence (SDPI) Program.
