MISAMIS Oriental Provincial Capitol still has 60 regular employees who haven't claimed their salaries, an official confirmed Tuesday, September 2.
During a press conference, Celso Abocejo said the employees’ paychecks, issued through an over-the-counter system implemented nearly a month ago, are still awaiting collection. He said the workers are from various departments.
“Naay saysenta ka tawo nga wala pa nagkobra hantod karon,” Abocejo said.
He questioned why the employees had not yet claimed their pay.
“Kung sakto ka nga trabahante, mouna ka gyud ug linya kay sweldo baya ni pero makapangutana ‘ta nganong wala nila gikobra ilang sweldo,” he asked.
Abocejo stated that all 60 are regular employees, and the capitol is investigating if any of them are “ghost employees.”
Additionally, Abocejo revealed that four capitol employees who were reassigned to other municipalities have filed complaints with the Civil Service Commission.
“Di nako masabot nganong nag reklamo sila. Di sad masabot ni gov nganong ng reklamo sila,” he said.
Abocejo explained that the reassignments were based on designated positions.
Some employees were transferred to fill vacancies in hospitals left by resigning casual and temporary workers.
He noted that some of the four employees complained that the reassignments to towns like Claveria, Initao, or Magsaysay would be difficult for them because they have children to attend to.
Abocejo said that while he understands their concern, it is “everybody’s reality.”
“Mao man nang talan awon sa tanan. Naa lang gyud siguro sila’y gusto ipadangat nga mensahe kang gov,” Abocejo said.
