AN authorized person outside residence (Apor) in Ozamiz City tested positive for coronavirus Friday, five days after he was cleared from mandatory quarantine upon his arrival from Zamboanga City last July 4.
This prompted Ozamiz Mayor Sancho Fernando F. Oaminal to declare a lockdown on two zones of barangay Bañadero starting Friday night.
Oaminal, in a press statement, said the Bañadero resident presented a medical certificate, travel authority and pass to those who manned the quarantine control point.
But the Apor had Covid-19 symptoms--fever, sore throat and difficulty in breathing--five days after he got home.
Upon the advice of a physician, he had rapid diagnostic test from which his blood sample turned positive, July 9.
On the same day, he was swabbed for confirmatory reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test for Covid-19 and was admitted at Faith Hospital for treatment.
The city mayor said the test result which he received Friday afternoon yielded positive result for Sars-Cov-2 causative virus of Covid-19.
Family members and neighbors, those he had been exposed to the Apor for the five days he was in his house, were subjected to rapid diagnostic tests.
Oaminal said he is certain the Covid-19 positive person is in his hospital room during Thursday’s 72nd City Charter Day and the Feast of Nuestra Señora de la Immaculada Concepcion twin celebrations.
The Apor turned Covid-19 patient was transferred to a local government-managed Doña Maria D. Tan Memorial Hospital in Tangub Friday night.
Ozamiz’ latest Covid-19 patient is the city’s sixth confirmed case; two are still active cases and in isolation units while three have already recovered.
