BUTUAN City — Like others who wanted unity and reconciliation for the good of the city, outgoing Butuan City Mayor Ferdinand Amante, Jr. said he, too, is for reconciliation but it must be with justice and truth.
During a press conference, here, Amante told reporters that unity and reconciliation which would be used to hide the irregularities will not be good for the city citing the controversial P565-million Butuan Bulk Water Supply project.
Amante claimed at the press conference that the group of mayor-elect Ronnie Vicente Lagnada offered reconciliation but he wanted justice first for the more than 400 thousand water consumers of the city.
Amante’s running mate, former Integrated Bar of the Philippines president Roan Ibay Libarios, for his part, claimed he is hoping early resolution of the multi-graft and corruption charges and malversation cases, he and his group filed against Lagnada, General Manager, other officials and Board of Directors of Butuan City Water District (BCWD) majority shareholders of Taguibo Aquatic Solutions Corporations (TASC), Twin Peak Hydro Resources Corporation winning bidders of the P565-million Butuan Bulk Water Supply Project be resolved by the Ombudsman soon.
“The ombudsman already have it docketed and the respondents asked for time extension to reply, time extension already lapsed, they replied I think and we already submitted lately petitions in reply of their replies. And we hoped it can be resolved soon by the Ombudsman,” said Libarios.
Amante assured that they will see the investigations through despite losing in the recently concluded elections.
