WITH the case on the murder of 1st District Rep. Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy’s eldest son Roland Sherwin still unsolved, another broad-daylight shooting incident ― involving a prominent medical doctor ― transpired today in barangay Nazareth, Cagayan de Oro City.
The victim identified as Dr. Raul Winston Andutan, a kidney specialist, was immediately rushed to nearby Maria Reyna hospital in critical condition after the treacherous attack was pulled out at around 11 am just across the street where the house of deputy speaker Rufus Rodriguez is situated.
“Mora’g serious iyang samad sa li-og kay ang unang ambulansya nga mi-check sa biktima nibiya man,” said Marlon Castro, the chief of tanod of barangay Nazareth, who came early in the crime scene.
Castro, however, said on his live video that he no longer spotted the motorcycle-riding men who reportedly pursued Dr. Andutan in his colored gray Fortuner and started shooting him after reaching the street in front of the Catholic San Antonio church.
“Dire dapit sa simbahan nga dalan nagsugod ang buto-buto,” said one trycycle driver Domingo Amoncio.
Dr. Andutan was presumably hit by the bullets along the junctures connecting the 12th-29th and 12th-30th streets.
Seriously wounded, Dr. Andutan drove his car into the vicinity of a laundry shop, hitting a man on a motorcycle that was also injured and being brought to the same hospital.
The victim’s wife and daughter went hysterical as soon as they arrived in the area and found the doctor sprawled inside his car, bathed in his own blood.
A motorcycle was still stuck beneath the victim’s Fortuner when city police director, PCol. Aaron Mandia later came to size up the situation along with some SWAT personnel.
Authorities are still investigating the case, even as city mayor Oscar Moreno has ordered the police for an all-out manhunt of the still unidentified suspects.
“Ang cctv (close-circuit television) ra gyod sa duol nga 7/11 store ang pag-asa nga makita unsa gyod ang nahitabo niadtong mga taknaa,” Castro said.
