CAGAYAN de Oro Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy has introduced a new initiative to support individuals recovering from drug addiction, offering them economic opportunities and renewed hope through the Monthly Tabo 2025.
Organized by the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac), the event takes place every third week at the City Hall Mini Park as part of the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation (CBDR) Aftercare Program, facilitated by the Oro Wellness Center.
The Monthly Tabo provides a platform for Recovering Persons Who Use Drugs (RPWUDs) to sell their products and showcase their skills, helping them reintegrate into society.
“This initiative not only supports their recovery but also helps them regain dignity and self-sufficiency,” said Dr. Rhyselle Bernadette Melliza-Descallar, head of the Oro Wellness Center.
Families of participants, along with CBDR service providers, play an active role in the event, reinforcing the importance of community support in the rehabilitation process.
Uy emphasized that the program aims to help participants maintain sobriety while providing them with a means of livelihood.
Cadac hopes the Monthly Tabo 2025 will inspire greater public support for individuals seeking a fresh start, proving that recovery and reintegration into society are possible.
