THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-10 confirmed that Cagayan de Oro City Councilors tested negative in a random drug test conducted Monday, July 28.

During ‘Meet the Press’ yesterday, July 30, Alex Tablate, the newly installed PDEA regional director for Northern Mindanao, announced the results, saying no councilor tested positive.

“Fortunately sa city council, walay positive,” Tablate said.

Tablate said the random drug testing was in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s mandate for drug-free workplaces, not only in government but also in private companies.

On Monday, July 28, Vice Mayor Joycelyn Rodriguez, all 20 councilors, and their secretaries and staff were included in the random drug testing.

Over Magnum Radyo today, July 31, Rodriguez said there were no results yet, but the PDEA regional director had already confirmed yesterday that the city councilors tested negative.

Rodriguez expressed her aim for the entire City Hall workforce to be covered by PDEA’s random drug testing initiative.

“Para drug-free gyud ta ug limpyo atong City hall,” Rodriguez said.

She hopes PDEA will continue to conduct random checks for everyone at City Hall.
