CAGAYAN de Oro City Councilor Enrico Salcedo announced on Monday that a new garbage collection company, Evergreen, will take over for Tencil, whose contract ends Saturday, August 23.

“Tencil is gone, Tencil will not be renewed, a new one has won, Evergreen,” Salcedo said on iFM-dxCC.

The City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (Clenro) has created a contingency plan to hire 20 dump trucks to collect garbage once a week.

This plan will be activated if Tencil stops performing its duties before the contract ends.

The 20 trucks will be joined by 10 from the engineering office and additional vehicles from barangays.

Salcedo, who chairs the waste management committee, asked the public for patience from Wednesday, August 20, to September 3, when Evergreen is scheduled to take over and resume the normal collection schedule.

“This is just a contingency so people won’t be hassled, especially with the fiesta,” Salcedo said.

Salcedo had previously given Tencil a performance score of four out of 10.
