ILIGAN City ― The Ombudsman has dismissed the motion for reconsideration of former Barangay Chair Camilo Anduyan.
In a statement to reporters yesterday, lawyer Moises Dalisay Jr. said that the said body had dismissed said the motion filed before them on April 2021 and was dismissed for “lack of merit” on September 22, 2021.
The copy of said dismissal, the lawyer said, was recently received by Marisa Cabili, treasurer of the said barangay who filed the complaint against Anduyan.
Dalisay added that the copy of the dismissal was sent to Cabili through him being the counsel for the complainant of said case.
To recall, Anduyan was sacked by the Ombudsman on April 2021. This was after he was subjected to a 90 days suspension in January 2021 in connection with the giving of the Social Amelioration Program at the height of lockdowns when the Covid-19 pandemic began.
The dismissal case though was different from the SAP case, it was learned. The case is also different from three criminal cases filed against him in which said former barangay chair has to face also, the lawyer said.
In another development, the promulgation of the case against City Mayor Celso G. Regencia which was originally scheduled for January 14 by the Sandigan Bayan has been reset to February 11, it was learned.
This is because of surging Covid-19 cases and concerns regarding the Omicron variant. The said case is about the usurpation of authority as he was still performing the functions as mayor when he was not supposed to do so as he was behind bars at the time. This was filed by then-Vice Mayor Ruderic Marzo.
Dalisay said that Regencia had appealed that the promulgation is made in June this year but was denied by said body. It was ready to have that promulgation done on January 14, only to reset it because of the aforementioned concerns.
