ILIGAN City ― The city has “not reached herd immunity” yet.
This was the statement yesterday by Ed Alivio of the city health office, to reporters.
He then clarified that this is because since the vaccination started and until now, only 69.23% of the total population have been fully vaccinated and there are still residents here who do not want to get vaccinated.
However, he added, “herd immunity might be achieved as there are still those who are going to get vaccinated for the second dose.”
The city, to note, has a total population of over 310,000 with 44 barangays.
In another development, acting city health officer, Dr. Belinda Lim, did not get the confirmation of the Sangguniang Panlungsod here.
The votes for her confirmation were made through secret balloting. Only two voted for her confirmation, five voted “no,” while the rest abstained, it was learned.
