Just days after it turned over to J.R. Borja General Hospital medical supplies and rice packs, the Filipino-Chinese community here in Cagayan de Oro made another donation to the frontliners of Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) on Tuesday amounting to over P1 million.
The said donation was held at Cagayan Town Center and was lead by the group’s anti-Covid-19 campaign Deputy Chairman, Tony Uy.
Uy with his committee members formally turned over 300 packs of rice, 500 sets of Covid-19 Rapid Test Kits, 3,400 sets of KN95 and 2,500 sets of 3 ply non-woven face masks to Northern Mindanao Medical Center Director Dr. Jose Chan.
Sa NMMC, this is the seventh time naka-hatag mi, suma-total sa amoa na tabang kanila dili mag kolang ug P7.2 million na. Kini wala pa nahuman kay gi budget mani, sa city hospital naka hatag nasad usab kami ug P1.2 million.
Dili mani tiaw nga epidemic, pandemic na kini. Kami nafeel namo nga unsa amoa makatabang sa kahimtang karon labi na daghan apektado. So kami nag group kaming tanan ug nag amot-amot para sa unsa amoa makatabang.
The group was also one of the first groups to respond to the need of medical supplies back in March when supplies of disinfectants and medical supplies such as PPEs, and alcohol was scarce. They donated over a million peso worth of the said supplies during the first week of the community quarantine in Cagayan de oro.
"Sa pag sugod nato ani, usa kami sa una naka respond. Kay kulang kaayo supply, makadum-dom kaman cguro na atong panahona alcohol dili kana pakakita. manga inun-ana amoang gipang prioritize na paliton,"
Uy also disclosed that before the group was mainly focused on providing frontliners needed PPEs and disinfectants to protect themselves from the virus. The group has also augmented their efforts in their anti-Covid-19 campaign by providing hospitals with rapid test kits as well as rice packs for frontliners not only in the medical field but also extended their support to different agencies and groups in the city from the Road and Traffic Administration (RTA), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Cagayan de Oro Police Office (COCPO), Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), and JRBGH among others.
For his part Dr. Chan expressed his deepest gratitude to the Filipino-Chinese community for their support.
"Salamat kaayo sa Filipino-Chinese community nga nag hatag aning donation para sa NMMC para satoa mga frontliners para maka tabang ta ug maayo sa atoang mga pasyenti sa Covid-19. Dako nakay ni nga tabang, dili lang sa atoang hospital, kung dili sa tibuok community sa Northern Mindanao. Subra-subra na ilahang nahatag, ika-pito na kini nga batch mo subra na sa 4 or 5 million ang ilahang nahatag nga tabang," Chan said.
