THE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported that power transmission rates rose by 7.09% in August 2025, reaching P1.4171/kWh from P1.3233/kWh in July.

This increase will be reflected in consumer bills this month.

The rise was primarily driven by higher charges for ancillary services, which grew to P0.6659/kWh in August from P0.5872/kWh in July.

Ancillary services, which cover the costs of maintaining grid stability, saw a P0.0787/kWh increase.

NGCP’s delivery fee also saw a slight increase, from P0.5923/kWh to P0.5970/kWh. The company clarified that it does not profit from these costs, as charges are passed on to generating companies and the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP).

Payments for ancillary services are directed to providers through bilateral contracts and the Reserve Market via IEMOP.
