NORTHMAN Gaming Corporation (NGC) has warned landlords and bettors to be cautious of illegal Small Town Lottery (STL) operators and unauthorized renters involved in illegal gambling.
In a statement released on Feb. 5, NGC reported 59 cases of illegal gambling activities in Davao del Norte over the past two months.
The company, in coordination with the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), is working to dismantle these operations, which often target those unfamiliar with gambling laws.
Authorities have compiled a list of suspected illegal gambling operators for inspection and potential arrests.
Tagum City has been flagged as the most problematic area, where illegal gambling syndicates allegedly operate openly.
Under Presidential Decree No. 1602, landlords who allow illegal gambling on their properties face imprisonment of six months to eight years, fines ranging from P20,000 to P50,000, and possible civil liabilities. Bettors caught gambling at illegal STL outlets may also face up to six months in prison under Republic Act No. 9287.
NGC, an authorized PCSO agent, is offering rewards ranging from P5,000 to P300,000 for individuals who provide concrete information on illegal operators and financiers. Reports can be made through 0953-912-5865.
