BUTUAN City--The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a Baptist missionary on court orders because of a human trafficking case on Thursday morning.
The missionary, 68-year old Clair Lee Clark, is also facing charges for child abuse, according to NBI acting director for Caraga Mario Menor.
The American was accused of abusing two minors who are members of his religious group. Clark has denied the accusations.
Menor said parents of the alleged victims were preparing to press charges anytime soon.
NBI agents arrested Clark inside a popular fastfood here based on a warrant issued by Judge Eduardo Casals of the 2nd branch of the Regional Trial Court here.
Authorities said the American, who has been living in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte, has been overstaying. He has a tourist visa.
