ILIGAN City ― We learn in physics class that “for every action, there is always an equal and opposite reaction.”
Some say this could be interpreted as “a tooth for a tooth.” Although others also talk of “if somebody’s throwing a stone at you, you must throw bread in return.”
But my friend Fely says though in jest: “But I got no time in going to the bakery.”
Anyway, from the latest development in the agricultural aspect of the nation, President BBM says he will be concurrent Secretary of Agriculture.
Some welcome this development. More so because former Senate President Tito Sotto talked about agriculture “smuggling” being done by some personnel in the said department “in connivance” with some people from the Bureau of Customs even as some LGU officials in Luzon are involved too.
So maybe people think, at least some, that PBBM could do something about this, for there’s a looming food crisis in this country and elsewhere in the world.
Although too some experts say that this is already upon us, brought about to a great extent by the continuing war between Russia and Ukraine.
This might be a good move on the part of the new President. So he can “tutok to win” this problem. Didn’t he say there would come a time when rice would cost only P20 per kilo? Under his watch?
But alas, some sectors also say that he's not an agriculturist. And what does he know about agriculture?
And worst, some pundits say, he’s “just interested in getting his hands on the coco levy fund!”
But at this point in time, let’s play it by ear. Let’s give PBBM the benefit of the doubt. Forget the past. Forget what the Guinness Book of Records says about the Marcoses.
And my friend Fely says: “Don't you remember the saying that it takes a thief to catch a thief?”
