HEAVY rainfall Saturday night, August 30, caused flooding in several municipalities in Misamis Oriental, but no injuries or deaths were reported.

In Lagonglong, flooding was reported in the barangays of Sta. Barra, Baliwagan, Blanco, San Isidro, and Talusan, as well as in Sitios Claveria and Cesar.

Mayor Alexis Quiña of Balingasag visited the flooded areas, and the Balingasag Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office responded to the scene.

According to a post on the Balingasag Facebook page, no one was harmed in the flooding.

A video uploaded by a resident, Lowe Valmores, showed high floodwaters in Lagonglong’s Dampil community, though the water subsided within a few hours.

Rain persisted Sunday in the municipalities of Tagoloan and Villanueva.

Misamis Oriental Gov. Juliette Uy urged residents to “pray for everybody’s safety” and said all municipal disaster offices across the province are on high alert.
