THE Misamis Oriental Provincial Government, through its Provincial Tourism Office, organized a media and vlogger familiarization tour on Wednesday, September 17, to promote tourism sites in Villanueva, Claveria, and Gingoog.
The tour was part of the province’s tourism week celebration.
The tour showcased a variety of destinations, including the FIBA-approved gymnasium and the silk production facility of Seda Pilipinas in Villanueva.
In Claveria, participants visited the scenic view deck and Kilobag Falls. The tour also included stops at Illuminada, Flight 387, and an oolong production farm in Gingoog.
According to Villanueva tourism officer Architect Paul Perocello, the town’s gymnasium can hold 5,000 people and features a specialized maple wood floor.
He highlighted that its FIBA recognition allows it to host international basketball games.
Paulafe Castillon of Seda Pilipinas in Villanueva said they can produce 1,500 meters of silk from a single cocoon.
Castillon noted that the silk industry in Villanueva is flourishing with the help of a women’s association that weaves silk into products like barongs and gowns.
Ryan Marqueda, a consultant for the provincial tourism office, thanked the media and vloggers who joined the tour. He said their participation would help showcase the province to other regions.
“Para mapakita nato sa ubang parte sa kalibutan unsay naa sa Misamis Oriental — what we can offer,” Marqueda said.
He also pointed out that Gov. Juliette Uy has emphasized the importance of seriously promoting the province's tourism industry.
Menzie Montes, news director for IFM-Rmn Dxcc, said the tour made her realize that Misamis Oriental has beautiful places that can compete with tourism sites in other countries.
“Naa gyud mga tsada nga tourism sites diri sa Misor nga pwede gyud nato icompete sa laing nasud parhas diri sa Claveria nga daghan kaayo gina offer nga mga tsada kaayo nga talan-awon,” Montes said.
