A Misamis Oriental provincial board member is urging the Department of Public Works and Highways to install road reflectors, or “cat’s eye” lights, on a provincial highway to prevent accidents.

Board Member Robert De Lara filed a resolution Monday, August 18, asking the DPWH to put the lights on Highway 955, a route that runs from Claveria to Gingoog.

During the session, De Lara expressed concern that fog, especially at night, makes the road dangerous for motorists. The highway is a popular shortcut to Gingoog and is also known for its scenic views.

De Lara said the heavy fog at night makes it “impossible to be seen, mawala gyud ang visibility,” referring to the visibility.

The resolution was referred to the committee on public works.
