Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body; it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”
-John F. Kennedy
WE will need more enthusiasm when battling inconsistency with exercising to lose weight, dealing with an injury, or your mental health is taking a plunge.
How do we prioritize our physical and mental well-being?
Let's find out.
I think we already know that exercise is good for your body. Here's the catch, It also improves your mood, enhances your sleep, and helps you deal with depression, anxiety, stress, and more. Doing exercises is not just about aerobic ability and muscle size.
There is no doubt, that exercise can improve your physical health and your body, trim your waistline, enhance your sex drive, and even expand your years of life. But honestly, that’s not what motivates most people to stay active these days.
People who exercise regularly tend to do so because it gives them a tremendous sense of well-being. They feel more energetic the whole day, adequately sleep at night, have sharper memories, and feel more comfortable and optimistic about themselves and their existence. Physical activity is positively associated with certain mental health traits. It also relieves stress, improves memory, helps you sleep better, and boosts your overall mood. Exercise improves mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood and by improving self-esteem and cognitive function. Exercise has also been found to relieve symptoms such as low self-esteem and social withdrawal. Research indicates that modest amounts of exercise can make a real difference. No matter your age or fitness level, we can learn to use exercise as a powerful tool to deal with mental health problems, improve your stability and outlook, and change how you view life.
When our physical health is good, it improves our mood and productivity in our everyday lives. Having a love for your physical well-being is crucial for your mental health. Be consistent with it and watch yourself become more efficient at work, school, and in your social life.
Honestly, you don’t have to spend more hours in a gym or force yourself into long, routine workouts to experience the advantages of exercise. Just make exercise a fun part of your everyday life. I have my fair share of experience when I have my first day of doing exercise. It wasn't as extreme in the beginning since there are times I have been dealing with depression. I explore other possibilities on how I encounter my demons and improve my well-being. So, I want to share this routine I did the first day. If you don’t have time for 15 or 30 minutes of exercise, or if your body says to take a break after 5 or 10 minutes, for instance, that is okay, too. Just start with 5- or 10-minute sessions and slowly increase your time. Even if it's only a little bit, it is better to keep doing the activities you love than doing nothing.
We are living in a modern world that is difficult, and all of us have our way how to handle it differently. If ever you have found yourself overwhelming to solve your issues related to physical and mental health, It's okay.
The only thing you should not do is allow it to rule your life. It will pass; you will come out of it and move on with your life because it’s not who you are.
All I can say is every workout is progress. Love yourself by prioritizing your physical and mental well-being.
