ILIGAN City ― Mayor-elect Frederick Siao yesterday in a statement over the air said the city has begun adopting automated or e-transactions in its dealings with the public here.
Though this is “somewhat late” as this has been beginning only late last year, still he is glad he said because this “promotes transparency” as the transactions will become paperless, thus minimizing “under the table” deals as papers going from one hand to another will be reduced too.
This city is “highly urbanized,” he added, therefore it is imperative that this method be adopted as this is the trend now citing the city governments of Pasig and Parañaque who are now engaging in these e-governance methods.
Regarding the Colegio de Iligan, he said that he has visited the grounds of the National Steel Corporation where such a facility is located along with some members of the transition team
The matter of its continuation should be “properly studied” Siao added stopping short though of mentioning that there is no accreditation yet from the Commission on Higher Education in spite of its operations since 2019 even if there is a city ordinance on the matter.
Inventories are being conducted too, Siao said, as to the assets of the city, like land, and equipment and the MRs or who those persons are holding this particular equipment and in what department.
